On January 26th, AYLUS participated for the third year volunteering at Pearland’s annual Winterfest. This is one of Pearland’s biggest events, hosted by Pearland Parks and Rec’s Pat Wiley, with over 10,000 people attending.
The event lasted from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Over these 7 hours, Pearland provided its citizens with nonstop food, attractions, and fun. Pearland Parks and Recreation used the Pearland Natatorium and Rec Center to its fullest and managed to run the entire operation with little to no flaws. There was a variety of exciting things to do, such as bounce houses, food trucks, rides, a petting zoo, snow zone and more.
Our first shift of AYLUS volunteers arrived at the check-in table at 8:15am and helped in numerous fashions. Volunteers helped control traffic flow, provide clean up duties, run errands, and many other duties vital to the event’s success. The combined effort of many volunteers and Pearland Parks and Rec were able to make this year’s Winterfest one of the best and most exciting yet!
