Frisco & Plano Branch Fundraiser for African Library Project at zTAO Mid Autumn Festival on September 14th 2024

On September 14th, starting at 10 am, our team’s first shift of volunteers set up shop at the Ztao supermarket, a prominently Chinese supermarket. We had a variety of things, including drinks (mango tea & boba tea), food (egg tarts, cotton candy, & shaved ice), as well as accessories (bracelets & rings) and balloon art. Additionally, other items included crochet keychains, office supplies, and backpacks. There were about ~10 volunteers helping out at this time, about 7-8 were designated to manage, create, and sell the products, while 2-3 people advertised by inviting passersbys to the shop. Two things of note happened in this time — first, a young 6 year old girl and her mother came by, and she – all at once – requested to buy around like 5 different things: cotton candy, a bracelet, an egg tart, boba tea, etc. Another addition was the double-flavor cotton candy, which was a combination of both the strawberry & blue raspberry flavors, and became especially popular! All in all, this session was pretty productive, and soon, we handed off the work onto the next set of volunteers for their shift.
