Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA), NJ Branch, has many talented members. Since December 11th, 2018, we started to feature some of them on our web page, so all GPA members get to know each other. Hopefully, it would also help with more constructive and collaborative teamwork among GPA members in our volunteer activities! So here comes one of our team leaders Steven Chi:
Self-Introduction Provided by Steven Chi:
I’m Steven Chi, an eighth-grader at West Windsor-Plainsboro Community Middle School (CMS). My best comparison is a swiss army knife or a jack of all trades. I’m not really an expert on one thing, and can’t tell people that I’m good at one thing. My best position is no position, but more of a big safety and backup for everyone. I have many hobbies, such as sports, games, like 겜블시티 가입 방법, and Lego robotics, and am looking forward to working with all of you.
One thing that I’m interested in is sports and their history (which I became fond of after I accidentally read about ping pong inventor that motivated me to research other sports too). I played a lot of sports, such as basketball, cross country, taekwondo, ping-pong, tennis, soccer, and swimming. I currently play on the CMS school basketball team and also play in a travel league. I enjoy playing basketball, and I consider this my biggest passion. I really enjoy playing the game because it teaches that teamwork makes the dream work and that even the littlest things matter. From basketball, I have learned that things can be good at certain times and can be really bad at others. I also run cross country. It’s a sport in which you only get better if you put work in. From this sport, I have learned that you must always work hard, be patient with everything you do, and always persevere through hardships. I ran on the CMS cross country team in the fall ever since sixth grade. Our team won the New Jersey Middle School State Championships in seventh grade and we got fourth place this year.
I also have done something in the musical department. I used to play viola and piano, and currently play trumpet. Playing instruments has taught me to constantly try and get better. I also do lego robotics. I started last year with no competition desire in mind. This year, our team, consisting of six people, ranging between 9 and 14, didn’t expect to make it past qualifiers, much less earning an award at state championships. This taught me many things, such as friendly competition, great manners and respecting and playing to everyone’s strengths. I also learned that hard work pays off, and everything is achievable if enough effort is put in.
I’m excited to join GPA to leave a positive impact on our community. I have helped our school win state championships, and helped our association go very far in many aspects, but haven’t really helped people I didn’t know. From my past experience, I have realized that even the little things add up. By joining GPA, I wish to begin my hopefully long career of volunteering and helping others. I also look forward to working with you all and hoping to help those who need the help.
