AYLUS Queens Branch Volunteered at the Community Health Fair in Corona, Flushing on 6/8/2024

On June 8th, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Queens branch took part in helping the Queens Community Board 3 set up and run the annual community health fair in Corona, Flushing. We started by setting up tables and chairs on the street for health information stations. Afterward, our volunteers went around the neighborhood handing out flyers to invite people to the fair. Once we distributed all the flyers, Timothy stayed to help at different stations. He moved between stations until the event ended at 2:00 PM.

Being aware of one’s health is crucial, yet many people overlook it for various reasons. The annual health fair aims to raise awareness about health issues in everyday life. This year, the event is especially significant as it is the last one organized by the founders/2023-2024 board of the Queens branch. As we hand over responsibilities to the new board, we hope to establish this health fair as an annual AYLUS Queens volunteer event. We’ve been proud to assist the Queens Community Board 3 with this fair for the past two years, and we look forward to continuing this tradition.

Members who participated: Jonathan Kwok (3 hours), Tiffany Lu (3 hours), Maxwell Hawkins-Lipman (3 hours), Emily Ma (3 hours), Timothy (Xiaotian) Zhang (6 hours)
