AYLUS Orchestra was invited to perform Chinese traditional music Jasmine Flower at the Chinese New Year Gala on 2/10/2024. We were excited and honored for this opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people. Since Jasmine Flower is a very important piece in Chinese culture, we had rehearsals every week to make sure it sounded good. On the day of the performance, we arrived around 1 PM and did warm-ups and run-throughs for about an hour. At 4:00, when the performances started, we sat down and watched 3 of them, then headed backstage to get ready for ours. We had some issues which we were not expecting, and it did affect some of the balances we’ve been working on throughout our piece.
This was a great opportunity for us to practice performing in front of many people. This was an experience of a lifetime and we hope to have the opportunity again.
