On December 17, the Great Neck Branch actively participated in an open house event at the senior center. The occasion drew a diverse crowd, including many elderly individuals and various performers.
Our dedicated volunteers spent two hours in preparation for the day’s performances, which included delightful flute renditions, captivating Chinese dance displays, and engaging art and craft activities. Volunteers also took part in playing Lego, fostering connections between people of different ages, from children to the elderly.
Given the proximity to Christmas, our performances featured festive Christmas songs, adding a joyful touch to the event. In addition to the entertainment, we organized various craft activities, guiding both the elderly and young children in creating Christmas-themed cardboard art and crafting Christmas trees from them. Meanwhile, children had a blast assembling Lego structures, expressing their creativity.
To further contribute to the festive atmosphere, we offered Christmas-themed cupcakes for sale. The delectable treats were a hit among the kids, who not only enjoyed them but also praised their deliciousness. In a heartwarming gesture, we donated all the proceeds from the cupcake sales to support the senior center.
In summary, the Great Neck Branch’s involvement in the senior center open house was marked by engaging performances, interactive activities, and a charitable initiative, spreading joy and fostering connections among the community members.
