AYLUS RC Branch Volunteers at ALFC Generosity Center on 06/23/2023
On June 23, 2023, a team of five dedicated members from AYLUS RC Branch gathered at the ALFC Generosity Center to participate in volunteer work. This location has been a consistent and dedicated service site for our branch, with monthly requests from the organizers for our assistance, typically requiring 10 to 15 volunteers. This summer, many of our members were either in China, attending summer schools or camps, which left us with a smaller team. Given the scorching heat, we engaged in a food packaging activity to prepare for the next food distribution.
The temperatures inside the warehouse were uncomfortably high, and there was no air conditioning to provide relief. Considering the conditions, our volunteer activity was limited to a shorter three-hour timeframe. The day’s task involved packaging canned food items, which were relatively heavy. We quickly realized the importance of teamwork and division of labor. Although the work may appear simple, it required a detailed breakdown into individual steps, with each person focusing on a specific task. This approach allowed us to form an efficient assembly line, ensuring high efficiency and minimizing errors.
Our male volunteers, primarily high school students, demonstrated their physical strength by tirelessly moving and organizing the canned goods. Their dedication was crucial in achieving the day’s packaging target. Within the three-hour window, we successfully packaged 200 portions of food. Witnessing the smiles and happiness on the faces of those receiving our assistance was the most rewarding part of our day.
We remain committed to participating in this meaningful activity, despite the challenges posed by the summer heat. This experience reaffirmed our commitment to serving the community, even during challenging circumstances. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to continue making a positive impact through our volunteer work in the future.
