AYLUS Bergen member Dawson Lin participated in a Tri-County Volunteer Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Youth Corps Drill on October 23, 2022. The events of the day included basic training in bleeding control, communications, lifting and moving patients, EMT Preparation, and being part of the Rescue Task Force. The drill concluded with a simulated Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).
Participation in the Volunteer EMS is highly valuable because it teaches us to help our communities at the most fundamental level–saving lives. It also serves as fantastic preparation for aspiring doctors, EMTs, and other students interested in the field of medicine. We hope more AYLUS members express interest in joining their local Youth Corps, as Volunteer EMS members are highly appreciated by the community.
