On September 18, 2022, 10 members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at the free South-American Chinese Clinic from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
This event was organized by the Chinese Community Center in cooperation with the Chinese American Physicians Club of Houston. The Chinese community center is a multi-ethnic organization serving all Houstonians. Their mission is to bridge East and West by enriching families with educational, cultural, and social service programs. The Chinese American Physicians Club of Houston is a nonprofit organization, formed by a group of medical providers in the greater Houston area that is dedicated to supporting its member physicians, and advocating for the health of its patients and community with knowledge and compassion. This was their 1st annual South-American Chinese Clinic.
This event offered free physical checkups and free consultation with over 30 doctors specializing in a wide range of healthcare including Family Medicine, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Oncology, Urology, Pulmonology, Radiology, Pediatrics, Endocrinology, and Nephrology. Lectures by doctors were also offered including lectures on hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and medical insurance. Volunteers helped by setting up tables and chairs before the event. During the event, volunteers worked at many different stations. Some volunteers helped patients check in to get a physical examination, others passed around stamp sheets, and others helped doctors give stamps and other small jobs. Volunteers also passed out food and water to any patients who wanted them.
The eleven volunteers who attended this event for 6 hours: Alexander Tang, Isabel Li, Angelina Hoang, Helena Wang, Emerald Tang, Danica Du, Eric Li, Ellen Dai, Jason Chen, and Yufei Zhang.
