Morrisville Branch Volunteers at NC Food Bank on Sep 27, 2022

On September 27th, 2022, three members of the ALYUS Morrisville/Cary Branch volunteered at the NC Central Food Bank in Durham. We worked on a project called Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). CSFP is a USDA program that provides a monthly package of food designed to supplement the nutritional needs of low-income senior citizens. Each box includes vegetables, fruits, whole grains, protein, and dairy, packed with care by Food Bank volunteers. Each box weighs 30 pounds, which can support a senior for 30 days. Working with a group of volunteers, we packed 360 boxes entire morning, which weighs about 10,800 pounds of food. Food Bank staff said this is THE most efficient team they have seen in last two years!

Volunteers that participated in this event: Kenna Zhang (3.5 hours), Brianna Xin (3.5 hours), Joyce Xu (3.5 hours).
