AYLUS Roslyn Branch Celebrates the Legacy of Art at Long Island Music Conservatory’s 5th Anniversary Festival (1st) in May 2025

The Legacy of Art concert was more than just a performance. Hosted by the Long Island Music Conservatory in celebration of its fifth anniversary, the event brought together performers, families, and volunteers for an evening filled with culture, music, and community spirit. AYLUS member volunteered from 5-9 on May 17th.

From the very beginning, volunteers played a key role in making sure everything ran smoothly. At the entrance, some collected tickets and greeted guests with welcoming smiles. Others directed people to their seats and answered questions along the way. A few volunteers also took on the role of presenters, introducing the event and welcoming council members and special guests with confidence and poise.

Behind the scenes, many volunteers were busy guiding performers to their dressing rooms and making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. Some helped with parking, directing cars to appropriate spots to avoid confusion or delays. Meanwhile, inside the venue, others were focused on setup, helping to move and arrange pianos, music stands, and other performance equipment.

Even after the concert began, the work didn’t stop. Volunteers stayed alert, continuing to guide latecomers, support performers, and make sure the transitions went smoothly. Although they didn’t get a moment to fully relax, many still found themselves enjoying the music as they worked. The performance featured a diverse mix of Chinese regional music and dance as well as Western classical and contemporary pieces. It was a beautiful blend of tradition and modern expression.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the event was the participation across generations. Children, students, adults, and seniors all contributed in different ways, whether on stage or behind the scenes. It truly felt like a community effort. Through shared responsibility, collaboration, and the universal language of music, The Legacy of Art created a space where people came together, celebrated culture, and formed lasting memories.
