On Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM EST, the Levittown Branch of the Bucks County Free Library received valuable volunteer support from members of AYLUS. Their service contributed to maintaining the library’s organization and improving the overall experience for all visitors.
During this two-hour session, volunteers David Soong and Edward Soong assisted with shelving books and ensuring that returned materials were placed in their correct locations. By helping to keep the library collection in order, they made it easier for patrons of all ages to find what they were looking for, saving time and promoting a smoother, more enjoyable visit.
Well-shelved and accurately organized materials are vital to the functioning of a public library. When books are easy to locate, patrons are more likely to browse, explore new topics, and return regularly. This promotes independent learning, supports academic success for students, and encourages a culture of reading and curiosity in the community.
Additionally, by taking on important but time-consuming tasks, the volunteers helped reduce the workload of library staff. This allowed staff to focus more on customer service, program development, and other essential operations that keep the library running effectively. In turn, this strengthens the library’s role as a welcoming and efficient resource for education and enrichment.
Through their efforts, David and Edward contributed to the accessibility, organization, and community impact of the library. Their work supported the mission of the Bucks County Free Library to provide open access to information, encourage lifelong learning, and foster community growth.
Participants in this volunteer session were David Soong and Edward Soong, each contributing 2 hours of service.
