AYLUS Great Neck played with special needs kids on April 25th
At Firefighters Park, AYLUS volunteers decided to make it a fun Friday for the kids at the park
and decided to join along with them in a variation of games. This included classic tag, infection,
and a variety of games that proved to be fun for all of the participants, along with the volunteers.
During this time, all of the volunteers were able to relax and enjoy their Friday along with some
of the children that were active in the park, and they were able to show the kids what enjoyment
at the park should look like. Along with that, during this time, they were able to get some
exercise while they were running around the park and were able to truly express themselves in
a fun and relaxing way.
At the end of the day, all volunteers and participants were truly able to go outside and breathe
some fresh air as they were able to run around and have some fun while not looking at screens
or other types of unhealthy ways to have fun. AYLUS volunteers were able to engage well with
the kids and were able to have some fun with them as they played along with the kids at the
park and truly were able to enjoy the Friday afternoon with other kids. AYLUS volunteers and
the kids also ran around the entire park rather than only the playground and went around the
park, truly taking advantage of the space around them. They enjoyed the amenities there such
as the gazebo, the wide open area, and the swings as well as a place for rest and relaxation
after a long day’s work. At the end of the day, the volunteers were able to rest and relax after a
day of fun and were able to bring the kids back to their parents and were able to take a picture
and go on their way home, knowing that they did their due diligence when it came to serving the
community.
