Recently, AYLUS Frisco & Plano Branch launched a used LEGO drive to benefit local special needs programs. The project began as a simple idea to clean out our own homes and repurpose forgotten LEGO sets and quickly grew into a community-wide effort. Volunteers not only gathered unused LEGOs from their own homes—clearing out toy bins and closets—but also reached out to neighbors, friends, and family to collect additional donations. The response was incredibly heartwarming, with families eager to contribute to a meaningful cause while decluttering their spaces.
In total, we collected about 20 pounds of gently used LEGO bricks, sets, and accessories. The LEGOs were then delivered to local special needs program teachers, who expressed excitement and gratitude for the added resources. This project not only benefited the children who will enjoy and learn from the donated LEGOs, but also fostered a sense of unity and purpose within our community. We are proud of the outcome and hope to make this a regular event to continue supporting inclusive learning through creative play.
