AYLUS BAsking Ridge members joined more than 1,000 volunteer across the Raritan River watershed to clean up our waterways for Raritan Headwaters’ 35th Annual Stream Cleanup. In celebration of earth Week, volunteers come together to clean up our rivers and steams, working to protect essential water supplies across Hunterdon, Morris, and Somerset counties.
AYLUS Basking Ridge volunteered at the Raritan Headwaters 35th Annual Stream Cleanup on 4/12/25. We participated in their long tradition of cleaning up the Raritan River watershed across the Hunterdon, Morris, and Somerset counties, helping protect our local water supply and the marine ecosystem at the root of pollution. Our volunteers arrived at Site 54: Greenbriar Farm, address 19 US-206, Peapack, NJ. After gathering with other volunteers, we were given instructions, equipment, plastic bags and split into two groups. We joined the group closer to the water and began working together with each other and others to pick up an assortment of trash, such as plastic bottles, wrappers, and aluminum cans. After several hours of climbing steep slopes, navigating through thorns, mud, and stream water in the bad weather, we collected two bags of trash. Once we recorded the data, we sorted the garbage, turned it in, and were rewarded with pizza.
