Report 4/6/2025 by Darren Gao
On Sunday, April 6th, 2025, AYLUS volunteers from Syosset, along with those from Roslyn, volunteered to work at Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Group Home at Bayville. The volunteers taught and helped the residents in Sprouting Green Seeds as an activity related to Spring. The residents and volunteers did this by using recycled egg carton boxes, using toothpicks to poke holes in the containers, putting tissue paper in the egg holders, sprinkling the seeds on the tissue, spraying the seeds with water, covering the containers with plastic wrapping, and finally poking holes in said plastic wrapping. The volunteers then kept the residents company by coloring pictures such as Happy Easter and Pandas Love Bamboo Leaves , and playing rounds of games such as Connect 4 and UNO. Afterward, all the residents and volunteers engaged in a few games of Jeopardy using the Wii TV remote. Everyone was able to have fun and create memorable experiences. Finally, the volunteers helped transport the residents to the lunchroom before their allotted time ran out.
