AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families Through NOSH Delivery! Food Pantry (53rd) on February 20, 2025

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, the AYLUS Roslyn
Branch volunteered with NOSH Delivers. NOSH Delivers is a food pantry designed toprovide people with food and items they need.

During this cold winter day, all of the customers were huddled in the middle of the pantry, waiting to be escorted through the shelves of food. While some volunteers pantry guided, the other volunteers began bagging up produce such as potatoes and apples. These bags then are delivered to individuals who don’t have transportation to pick it up themselves, or people who cannot pick it up due to work or school.

Even though today wasn’t very busy we still had lots of work to do because of the delivery from Long Island Cares. The delivery consisted of various snacks, frozen meat and drinks. Immediately when the food was received, we began sorting the contents inside. We organized the meat by the type of meat it was and put them into smaller boxes so it could be transported easily. The snack and drinks were then restocked on the shelves so the customers could have a wider variety of food to choose from. A couple of other volunteers worked in the farmers market. They gave shoppers fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and bread so they could be provided with nutrients throughout the week.

Volunteering at Nosh Delivers encourages us to engage with the community and collaborate with one another to solve the issue of food insecurity.
