AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families through NOSH delivers! Food Pantry (51st) on February 18th, 2025

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered with NOSH Delivers, a non-profit organization in Glen Cove that aims to help families struggling with food insecurity. Their mission is to improve the well-being of the North Shore community by increasing access to food, as well as basic goods and services.

Today, our tasks involved assisting customers who needed help, answering their questions, and ensuring they felt welcome. We restocked shelves that were running low on supplies, made sure items were neatly arranged and easy to find, and unpacked a large donation of goods. We sorted items into their correct sections, checked for dented or damaged cans, and disposed of any that were in poor condition. We moved several boxes to keep shelves fully stocked and took extra care to keep the storage area tidy for future use. Throughout the day, we helped clean up the space by sweeping floors and wiping down counters. We also disassembled cardboard boxes and took them to the recycling center. Before wrapping up, we double-checked the shelves to ensure they were ready for the next customers.

Volunteering at NOSH gives us the opportunity to broaden our perspective and understand the challenges others face. Many customers struggle to access the food they need, and through our efforts, we can help make a meaningful difference in their lives. It was a powerful reminder that even small actions can lead to meaningful change.
