AYLUS Bellaire volunteered at the MIMS Chinese New Year Festival on February 8, 2025

From 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM on Saturday, February 8, the Bellaire Branch of AYLUS volunteered at Mandarin Immersion Magnet School 2025 Chinese New Year Festival (5445 W Alabama St, Houston, TX 77056).

Mandarin Immersion Magnet School is a magnet school in Houston, Texas, United States. Established in 2012, it is part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD). The school’s current campus in the St. George Place area of Houston opened in August 2016; it was previously located in the former Maud Gordon Elementary School in Bellaire, Texas. Chinese New Year is a major feature of this school, and they will ask parents to buy tickets for their children. These tickets can be used to purchase drinks and food, giving the kids lots of fun things to do.

For this event, members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch worked in several areas. To guide and protect kids while they are playing with these fun themes. They were also asked to collect the tickets before the kids entered those recreational facilities.

This event is divided into two shifts: 9:30-12:30 and 12:30-3:30. Two AYLUS volunteers participated in this event: Yuze Han (4 hours) and Ryan T. Li (4 hours).
