AYLUS Great Neck Held AAPI event at the Parkville Library on 2/1/2025 (11th)

On February 1st, from 1:30-3:30 pm, AYLUS Great Neck held another event at the Parkville Library. This was an AAPI event to learn about and celebrate the Lunar New Year. The volunteers came early to help set up all the tables and activities. At 2:00 kids came in and the volunteers Zoe and Rebecca read the books Lunar New Year and Happy New Year. Throughout the book, they interacted with the kids asking questions about them and the book. The kids had a great time. After reading the book, the kids went to the activities table, which included coloring-related Lunar New Year drawings, origami, and crocheting. At the origami table, Zoe taught the kids there how to make paper cranes. It was hard at first, but everyone eventually made it! Rebecca and Tiffany were at the crochet table, for the past three times the kids and even parents have been working on the pouch, and yesterday two of the people finished and mastered their pouch. Everyone had a great time!
