On Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, the members of AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered at NOSH delivers, a food pantry located in Glen Cove. The purpose of NOSH delivers is to provide food and other supplies to families in need.
When all of us arrived, we were asked to get all the supplies needed to make NOSH bags. NOSH bags are bags filled with non perishable food items that are delivered to people in need of food. We carried many heavy boxes full of canned goods to the counter. After everything was set up, we started making the NOSH bags. We filled them with chicken broth, canned fruits and vegetables, pancake mix, and rice. There were enough materials to make 120 bags but we were only required to make 60. We set up a conveyer belt system so we could get the bags done efficiently.
Once we were finished, we set up the place so the monday group could make more. Then, we were asked to organize food boxes to fit more space for other stuff. Last but not least, we restocked some shelves and helped customers shop for food.
Volunteering in Nosh delivers is a significant activity, because it has made us realize how important to help people who are struggling with food. Nosh Delivers food pantry makes a friendly role in the community. We will keep up our good work and strive hard to help more!
