AYLUS Roslyn Helps The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County at the Bayville Care Center (12th) on January 5th, 2025

On January 5th, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the AYLUS Roslyn Branch participated with the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, a program dedicated to supporting individuals with Cerebral Palsy. During this time, we collaborated with the AYLUS Syosset Branch.

Our volunteers collaborated with residents with disabilities by playing various games, including UNO, Connect 4, and Giant Darts/Axe Throwing, using Velcroballs, axes, and arrows. We read books, designed scratch-off masks, and painted Easter eggs together. We assisted them with everyday tasks, such as accompanying them to different locations and helping them organize their belongings in their wheelchairs. Each member expressed joy at our arrival and often initiated conversations, asking when we would return or sharing interesting aspects of their lives.

Working with these individuals allowed both groups of volunteers to appreciate their resilience and determination to overcome obstacles. It also gave us a new perspective on our lives and opportunities, teaching us to be grateful for what we have. We thoroughly enjoy volunteering here, just as much as they enjoy our presence, and we hope to return soon.

Members who participated include:
