AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families through NOSH delivers! Food Pantry (43rd) on December 28th, 2024

On Friday, December 28th, 2024, the members of the Roslyn Aylus Branch volunteered at NOSH Delivers! Food Pantry from 9 A.M to 12 P.M. NOSH Deliver’s main objective is to provide food and essential items to the community of North Shore.

As volunteers, we assisted with various tasks to support NOSH’s mission of fighting food insecurity in the community. Our responsibilities included sorting donations, assembling food packages, and organizing fresh produce to ensure it can be distributed efficiently. Additionally, we helped distribute prepared bags of groceries to families that were able to come to our location; we tried to make the process as smooth and welcoming as possible. The impact of our work was evident in the gratitude expressed by the recipients. It was heartwarming to see how even small contributions we made in our short time there could make a significant difference in people’s lives.

One surprising moment during our shift was the sheer volume of donations that arrived that needed to be sorted through and packaged. While it was a challenge to organize everything quickly, we overcame this obstacle by dividing tasks among ourselves and maintaining clear communication with the staff at Nosh.

Volunteering at NOSH required skills such as organization, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. It also called upon our compassion and a willingness to engage positively with members of the community.

Through this experience, we gained a deeper understanding of food insecurity and the importance of community programs like NOSH. Volunteering reminded us of the value of giving back and inspired us to continue supporting initiatives that help those in need. Moving forward, we hope to participate in similar efforts to address hunger and promote kindness in our community.

Members that participated include: Chloe Wu (3 hours), Charlotte Wu (3 hours), Leah Chan (3h hours), Lily Zheng (3 hours)
