From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, the Bellaire Branch of AYLUS volunteered at the Houston Children’s Charity 2024 Annual Toy Distribution (George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas, Houston, Texas 77010).
The Houston Children’s Charity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged, abused, and disabled children in Greater Houston. The organization’s Annual Toy Distribution allows parents to shop for toys free of charge, providing children gifts during the holidays. According to the Houston Children’s Charity website, this program provides an estimated 80,000 toys to about 20,000 children per year.
At this event, members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch assisted the event by removing toys from shipping boxes, arranging toys on tables, restocking toys when they ran out, and helping parents shop. Volunteers also helped to clean up the hall after the event ended by breaking down cardboard boxes and placing them in piles.
9 AYLUS volunteers participated in this event (12/21, 4 hours): Miranda Wang, Catherine Slezak, Isabel Li, Valerie Yu, Christopher Dai, David Li, Eric Liu, Kyle Tang, and Megan Wang.
