Murrieta AYLUS volunteers at the Holiday on the Hill Event (12/7/2024)

Reported by HsinChen(Julie) Lu :

On December 7, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out their community’s annual Holiday on the Hill Event. The members were assigned to work at the desserts station. While they waited for guests to arrive, the members helped set up work areas, arranging the desserts, plates, and napkins on the tables. As families came in, they first lined up to take photos with Santa before heading over to the food station. The members served the guests, restocked desserts, cleaned up trash and spilled food, and assisted with the meatball station. A couple hours later as the line dwindled down, the members were given a quick 5 minute break before heading back to the kitchen to wash dishes. They scrubbed, rinsed, and dried pots, plates, pans, and utensils, stacking them on the counter to be put away. Around this time, the event has come to an end and most of the guests had left. The members stacked the chairs in the lounge and rolled them over to storage. They then went to the other lounge area and cleaned up, gathering the candles and table clothes before taking apart the standing tables to be stored away. They then cleaned up all the spilled food outside and dumped out the remaining popcorn before sweeping and mopping the crafts room. By the time they finished up, the members were the only volunteers left at the venue. They waved goodbye to the staff before leaving.
