In November, the Greater Princeton & Far Beyond Branch of AYLUS (GPA) continued its holiday greeting event to first aid and rescue squads, firefighters, police officers, and so many real heroes in our community, who sacrifice a lot to save lives, and deserve our honor and respect, especially in this holiday season.
The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad is a 100% volunteer organization that has been providing emergency medical services to Scotch Plains and the surrounding communities since 1937. This is a distinction that very few rescue squads in the state have attained.
The Rescue Squad’s ninety-plus dedicated volunteers have over 800 combined years of service to the community. These volunteers respond to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis. Records indicate that the squad has answered over 85,000 emergency calls since its inception. The squad’s membership includes people aged 16 years and up and from all walks of life.
Led by Xing Liao (11/26, 6-8 pm, 2 hrs), GPA members (11/26, 7-8 pm, 1 hr for all) Joshua Liu, Grant Li, Garland Li, Laetitia Huang, Sophia Zhang, and Aidan Cheng prepared best wishing cards, collected donation items, joined for the event and delivered the gifts to the real heroes at Scotch Plains Rescue Squad (1916 Bartle Ave).
