Frisco & Plano Branch Hosted School Supply Drive for Free Meal Low Income Elementary Students from August 1st to August 11th 2024

Reported by Jenny Wang

School supply drives can have a significant impact on students by helping them feel prepared and confident, and by giving them equal opportunities in the classroom, especially for low income students. The provision of free school supplies not only fosters a more structured and participative classroom environment but also ensures that every child is equipped to engage fully in the learning process. For two weeks, we posted our AYLUS school supply drive flyer on social media. Many AYLUS members, friends and neighbors generously donation all kinds of school supply listed on the flyer. We sent these school supplies to the local free meal and low income elementary students. Personally identifiable photographs of currently enrolled students is not Directory Information under FERPA and as such can’t be released without written consent from the student. So we couldn’t take photographs when individual elementary student received AYLUS school supplies donations.
