Riverside County AYLUS Members Return to Lend a Helping Hand to a Local Food Bank on July 26th, 2024

On July 26th, two RCA members returned to a Food bank they had previously been assisting during the week. They were assigned to help sort through food produce to help recover and salvage produce.

Food banks significantly impact communities by addressing hunger and food insecurity, focusing on providing nutritious food to vulnerable groups such as children, seniors, and low-income individuals. They play a vital role in sustainable resource management by salvaging surplus food from retailers, manufacturers, and farms. Members of RCA frequently volunteer at various food relief organizations, showcasing their commitment to this cause. This effort is part of a larger mission to tackle the global issue of food waste, which sees billions of tons wasted annually. By participating in food rescue and distribution, RCA actively supports the reduction of food waste and the fight against hunger in their community.
