On July 28 2024, members of AYLUS co-organized with Buffalo Chess Association the Heatwave Chess Tournament at UB from 9AM-5PM. The earnings from the tournament are all spent on school supplies that will be donated. There were 32 competitors from different ethnic backgrounds. After five rounds, winners received prizes and 3 others received Sportsmanship awards. In addition to the tournament, participants received the opportunity for 18 of them to play against a chess grandmaster. Volunteers at this event were needed to operate stations.
