On Saturday, February 17th, 2024, the Roslyn Branch volunteered at the Blueberry House which is run by the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County.
During our time volunteering, we assisted the residents in the house with different activities, ranging from helping them paint and doing crafts to playing games. While spending time together, one of our goals was to make everyone feel included and able to participate in the activities. This meant that each volunteer partnered up with one resident and provided them with any help they may have needed while they painted canvas and wooden birdhouses. After finishing the crafts, we had a great time playing a velcro dart game. Everyone had an incredible time doing these activities together. One
of the most rewarding parts of the three-hour experience was being able to break communication barriers throughout the different activities. Through volunteering at this house, we learned valuable lessons about being compassionate and willing to help others and these lessons will stick with us for the rest of our lives.
