Columbus Branch Donated 96 Placemats to Meals on Wheels on December 18, 2023
Throughout the past two months, AYLUS Columbus volunteers created 96 placemats for the City of Dublin’s Meals on Wheels program. The mats were delivered to the Dublin Service Center on December 18 to be distributed to Meals on Wheels recipients around the community.
Meals on Wheels deliveries help those who are 60 years of age or older and otherwise unable to receive in-person meals. This program has become of even greater importance since the COVID-19 pandemic, as older residents, especially those who are further immunocompromised, have higher risks of both infection and severity.
The branch finished another successful year of placemat-making with many new members joining this round. Volunteers incorporated themes of winter and the upcoming holiday season, using a variety of creative techniques like painting, drawing, collaging, sketching, and even including some festive glitter. AYLUS Columbus is excited to continue this wonderful partnership into the new year and beyond.
