On the morning of November 5, 2023, our Roslyn Branch organized a volunteering event from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The goal was to distribute flyers to encourage residents to contribute food or money for those in need. It was a warm and heartwarming Sunday morning, and our volunteers dedicated their time to this important cause.
Island Harvest Food Bank is a big group that helps make sure people on Long Island have enough to eat. They work to get food to the people who need it and teach them about good nutrition. They also help with job training and have programs for different groups in the community. Island Harvest is good at responding quickly in emergencies and is part of Feeding America, a major hunger relief organization.
To assist Island Harvest with its goals, our group volunteered to hand out flyers and asked for food or money donations because they genuinely want to make a difference in their community. We’re driven by a desire to help those who are going through tough times, whether it’s because they don’t have enough to eat or they’re facing financial challenges. After 4 hours process, we earned approximately 210 lbs of food and $200. Overall, the day was a great success, and we look forward to the next time!
