The AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Ed White Elementary school in Houston, Texas on November 4, 2023, from 9am to 12pm.
ED White Elementary School is situated in a diverse neighborhood and hosts a longstanding program dedicated to supporting students from different backgrounds in Math or Reading. Today the Aylus volunteers were given the opportunity to tutor small groups of fourth-grade students in English language arts within the classroom. Through practice answering questions based on stories using a graphic organizer, and summarizing and retelling stories, the students made notable improvements in their reading skills.
There were two volunteers that participated in the volunteer activity (total 3 hours): Daniel Wu and Victoria Wang.
