Reported by Adora Xiao :
On Sunday, October 22, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to local senior centers.
At Torrey Pines Senior Living: The volunteers began with assisting the residents with their workout, then gathered up and put away the noodles. They poured drinks and prepared snacks for them, helping some residents drink carefully because there wasn’t thickener available. The residents were given crackers and cheese as a light snack or a part of a banana, and after the snack and cups were cleared away, the residents were taken outside. Taking walks in rounds, the residents enjoyed the fresh air outside, before the volunteers took the residents to the dining hall for lunch.

Reported by Jessica Lu :
On October 22nd, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members went to play piano at their local senior center.
Members set up their books and started off with some Schumann. Then, they moved to Mozart and Clementi, before playing some upbeat pieces like The Entertainer by Scott Joplin, which some seniors enjoyed. Members also played Fascination by Marchetti, which many seniors were familiar with. It was a pretty slow day with few seniors who dropped by to listen but members still enjoyed performing. When members ended their performance, they were surprised to see some seniors sitting outside the library listening to the music. Members were encouraged by the seniors and will be sure to come back next week.
