AYLUS RC Branch Volunteers at Community Awards Event on 05/12/2023
On May 12, 2023, 14 members of the AYLUS RC Branch played an integral role in an important community awards event. The event took place in the grand hall of the Central Park Senior Activity Center, where we celebrated and recognized the extraordinary contributions of families with individuals affected by Down syndrome in our community over the past year.
Prior to the commencement of the event, the organizing team provided our volunteers with detailed instructions about their respective roles and responsibilities. This preparation ensured that we were well-equipped to assist and support the attendees effectively.
The families attending the event were resplendent in their finest attire, and witnessing the happiness and contentment on their faces filled our hearts with joy. Our volunteers played a pivotal role in capturing memorable moments by helping the families take photos in front of the VIP board, guiding them through the registration process at the front desk, and ushering them to their designated seating areas. Additionally, we were responsible for distributing meals and beverages to the event attendees, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
The event lasted for an impressive five hours, during which each award-winning family took the stage to share their personal stories. Many of these narratives were profoundly moving, highlighting the resilience and strength of these families in the face of adversity. Through our involvement in this meaningful awards ceremony, we not only provided volunteer services but also gained a deeper understanding of the extraordinary nature of ordinary lives.
After the event, our dedicated team worked diligently to clean up the venue, despite the physical challenges. Our efforts did not go unnoticed, and the organizers expressed their heartfelt appreciation for our services. This event marked another successful collaboration between AYLUS and the event organizers, and we are particularly proud of the commendable work of our chapter’s President, Yongxi Hu, who spearheaded the coordination of this event.
We look forward to future opportunities to participate in such meaningful events and continue to make a positive impact in our community. This experience has not only strengthened our commitment to community engagement but also underscored the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need.
As a result of their service, each volunteer earned a certification for 5 hours of volunteer work. The names of the dedicated volunteers are as follows:
