AYLUS RC Branch Volunteers at ALFC Generosity Center on 05/27/2023
On May 27, 2023, a team of 15 dedicated members from our AYLUS RC Branch convened at the ALFC Generosity Center for a day of volunteer work. This location has been a consistent service site for our branch, with the organizers requesting our assistance twice a month, typically requiring 10 to 15 volunteers each time. This month, all our volunteers had recently completed their end-of-term exams, marking the beginning of summer vacation. The prospect of the summer break filled everyone with excitement and energy, which they eagerly channeled into their volunteer work for the day.
Our task on this day was to distribute food at the City’s designated location for providing free groceries to those in need. This made our volunteer work particularly meaningful as we contributed to addressing the essential needs of the local community. When we assembled at 8:00 AM, a long line of vehicles was already queued up, waiting to receive groceries. The adults among us managed traffic and ensured order among the vehicles, while our high school volunteers took charge of loading each vehicle with the groceries allocated to their respective stalls.
The distribution process extended over a significant period as the variety of food items was extensive. We managed various stalls, each catering to specific food categories, including vegetables, fruits, meats, bread, beverages, canned goods, and more. Our high school volunteers’ strength and tireless efforts were crucial in ensuring that we met our target quantity for the day.
The number of vehicles seeking food assistance was substantial, and we worked tirelessly for five hours under the sun. By the end of our dedicated efforts, we successfully distributed 400 food packages, ensuring that no one left empty-handed. Witnessing the joy and gratitude on the faces of those receiving our assistance was the most rewarding part of our day.
As summer officially begins, we look forward to continuing our service to the community and making a positive impact on those in need. This experience has reinforced our dedication to volunteerism and strengthened our sense of responsibility to serve our community. We anticipate more opportunities to contribute in the coming months and beyond.
