Chapel Hill Branch Volunteers Painting Birdhouses at Community Park on September 2nd, 2023

On September 2, the Chapel Hill branch of A.L.Y.U.S. volunteered at Community Park to paint birdhouses along the park trails. Since we had done this before, we got started very quickly. For coloring, we used paintbrushes and outdoor acrylic paint. There were a total of three birdhouses that needed painting that day, so we split into two groups.

For one of the birdhouses, we chose to paint the side with a soothing light blue, a golden yellow roof, and added white bubbles for some extra flair. As for the second birdhouse, we painted the base in a vibrant blue, the roof in bold red, and the side in cheerful yellow, then adorned it with beautifully painted flowers. For the last birdhouse, all we had to do was add the finishing touches since we had already completed the background color. We decided to draw musical notes on the side, and it turned out beautifully.

This volunteering experience was a lot of fun, allowing us to be creative and make cool paintings. We extend our gratitude to all the volunteers and their parents. The Chapel Hill branch of ALYUS is excited to continue volunteering and making our community better!

Volunteers who participated in this event are Eric Sun (2.5 hours), Kasi Lin (2.5 hours), Kayla Lin (2.5 hours), Ethan Li_DA (2.5 hours), Karen Lin (2.5 hours), Ethan Li_ECHHS (2.5 hours), Grace Gao (2.5 hours), and Zhiyuan(Jack) Xu (2.5 hours).
