On August 2, 2023, AYLUS volunteers joined forces with the Light and Salt Association to support their inspiring SMILE program, designed to empower special needs students through skill development. Throughout the day, the volunteers engaged the students in a range of activities aimed at fostering creativity and honing essential skills.
During the morning session, the volunteers facilitated art activities, sparking the students’ imaginations by encouraging them to draw cartoon pictures of various foods. As the colorful illustrations took shape, the students beamed with pride, displaying their growing artistic abilities. Coloring these delightful creations further added to the joy of the morning, promoting fine motor skills and attention to detail.
In the afternoon, the volunteers and students embarked on an exciting journey into the world of board games. The timeless classics Monopoly and Uno were chosen, offering a wonderful blend of fun and learning. As the games unfolded, the students not only reveled in the thrill of competition but also exercised critical skills such as math, counting, and strategic thinking. The volunteers provided patient guidance, ensuring that the students grasped the rules and tactics, making the experience both educational and entertaining.
On this meaningful day, AYLUS and the Light and Salt Association celebrated the beauty of learning, growth, and the profound connections forged through the shared experience of nurturing young talents.
