On July 21, 2023, members of the Syosset branch from AYLUS participated in teaching children how to play the violin. Experience levels varied as some of the kids didn’t know how to play while others did. The volunteers taught the basics of how to have good posture and a couple of basic scales. The students were placed into different groups based on their skill level and performance throughout the lesson. Those who played poorly and didn’t play well were put in the first group and kids who had some basic knowledge of playing were put in the second. Because it was only the first lesson, not much was able to be accomplished, but classes will be continued to improve teaching skills moving forward while also providing a better experience for all.
