On Sunday July 16, 2023, Aylus Pearland decided to resume the previously retired chess classes and brought new teachers to help teach new students. The New teachers Jordan Zheng and Marc Lu are both avid chess enthusiasts and were both excited to teach this new set of lessons.
The students were split into two groups between the younger and older students. Jordan taught
the younger students and taught the basics of chess such as board set-up, piece movements, and the basic chess tactics. While Marc taught the more advanced techniques, such as basic endgame technique and openings. Towards the end, the instructors realized that the students did not receive a break and let the students ten minutes early.
Overall, the class was a success and the students enjoyed their first class of chess lessons.
