On July 15, 2023, AYLUS Pearland proudly partnered with City of Pearland, Light and Salt Association, T21 Family Outreach, and Homewatch Care Givers to host a momentous occasion – the very first inclusive play date at the Ed Thompson Inclusive Playground. This event was a true celebration of community collaboration and a step forward in fostering inclusivity and joy for all children.
In the early hours of the morning, our dedicated volunteers eagerly arrived at the playground, prepared to ensure the event’s success. Together, they skillfully arranged tables, adorned the stage with vibrant balloons, set up the welcoming desk, and provided comfortable canopies for the resource booth. Their commitment to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere was evident from the start.
As the clock struck 9, the event commenced with youthful enthusiasm. Our youth volunteers, brimming with excitement, took on various roles. Some engaged in artistic endeavors at the face painting and tattoo booth, while others brought rhythm and fun to the bucket drum area. Additionally, volunteers greeted and accompanied special needs children as their play buddies, guiding them through the playground and swinging alongside them with genuine joy.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of JJ from Coco Melon, who graciously joined us. Both volunteers and children with special needs reveled in the heartwarming experience of dancing and singing with JJ, creating memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
To ensure the well-being of all attendees, AYLUS Pearland thoughtfully prepared snacks and provided plants as a token of appreciation and unity. This small gesture reflected our organization’s commitment to nurturing a sense of togetherness and creating a positive impact in the community.
The MyPlayClub event stands as a significant milestone in AYLUS Pearland’s history. Our branch has tirelessly dedicated its efforts since the inception of the All Inclusive Playgroup Project in May 2021. Through a series of fundraising events and unwavering support, we have become proud partners of this project. Witnessing the tangible and positive impact of our collective endeavor on the special needs community during this event was truly rewarding and heartening for all involved.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the City of Pearland, Light and Salt Association, T21 Family Outreach, Homewatch Care Givers, and every volunteer who contributed their time, energy, and passion to make this event a resounding success. Together, we shall continue our journey, championing inclusivity, and fostering a more compassionate and connected world for all children.
