On Saturday June 24, the East Pittsburgh Aylus group went to the Westmoreland Food bank to Pack boxes. The aim of this volunteer effort was to support the food bank’s mission of providing nutritious meals to individuals and families in need. During the volunteering session, the main task involved packing boxes with food items. The volunteers were assigned different stations, each responsible for specific food categories such as canned goods, grains, dairy products, fresh produce, and also lifting the boxes onto forklifts. Volunteering at the food bank and participating in packing boxes with food was a fulfilling experience. The collective efforts of volunteers helped contribute to hunger relief, efficient operations, and increased awareness of food insecurity.
