On Saturday, June 24, from 10:30-4:30, members of the Roslyn AYLUS branch volunteered at the charity yard sale at the Community Church of Douglaston in Queens.
Volunteers brought many household items to sell, including toys, books, accessories, jewelry, art supplies, school supplies, kitchen tools, as well as flower bouquets. After unpacking, volunteers organized the items for sale by category. Volunteers set up posters around the neighborhood, helped attract possible buyers from around the town, and labeled items for sale by price. By describing items to customers and helping the yard sale remain organized, volunteers helped raise funds for charity. Afterwards, volunteers assisted in packing extra unsold items, as putting away signs, tables, and chairs, as well as cleaning up trash. We worked alongside members of other branches and organizations, with friends and family as well.
