On Monday, April 17, 2023, AYLUS Lexington Branch participated in the Annual Lexington Patriots’ Day parade.
The annual Lexington Patriots’ Day Parade occurs to pay tribute to those who first fell on the Lexington Green on the morning of April 19, 1775. The Battle of Lexington is commemorated every year on the third Monday in April. The parade started at Massachusetts Avenue and Maple Street in East Lexington and proceeded west along Massachusetts Avenue through Lexington Center, left onto Worthen Road and ended at the Town Pool Parking Lot. The approximately two-and-a-half-mile-long Parade began at 2:00 pm in East Lexington on Massachusetts Avenue.
“Dedicated to discovery…Committed to care” is the mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. A world leader in cancer research and treatment, the Institute was founded in 1947 by Dr. Sidney Farber and fortified by our historic partner, the Dana Foundation. Dana-Farber is renowned for using its discoveries to improve the treatment of adults and children with cancer.
The Jimmy Fund solely supports the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community efforts to help save lives and give hope to cancer patients around the world.
AYLUS Lexington Branch paraded through the town center of Lexington while holding the AYLUS Lexington Banner and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Banner. They also fundraised for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund at a booth in the town center from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Members were able to interact with the community while supporting a good cause and practiced interpersonal skills.
