Plano & Frisco Branch Sell Bracelets to Support Funding for Libraries of Love on April 22nd, 2023

Reported By Natalie Lin

AYLUS Frisco and Plano Branch started a fundraiser for selling bracelets to support the fees of shipping books to Africa for the Libraries of Love project. Libraries of Love is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing libraries to the children of Africa. More information on the organization can be found at https://librariesoflove.org/

AYLUS members first gathered together in a bead store to add decorative hearts onto premade bracelets. They were then given bracelets to sell in any way they could. Some members sold to students at their schools, and others at fundraising events. One AYLUS member describes their experience selling bracelets to peers at their school.

“To sell my bracelets, I brought them out at school during any time that I was able to talk with someone. I introduced the bracelets and told my classmates why I was selling them, told them the prices, and then showed them to anyone I could. If they bought a bracelet, I would wait until recess to give it to them.”

Many AYLUS members were also given materials, like beads and string, to make more bracelets at home. These bracelets were then sold, and some of the prices were adjusted to better suit consumer demands.

The following hours were awarded to the following AYLUS members:

Natalie Lin   3.hours

Chloe Lin     3 hours

Brandi Wu   1.5 hours

Vicky Zhao   1.5 hours
