As more and more K-8 books were categorized, fund raising for the shipping expense from Dallas to the Port of New Orleans became imminent. Last week we had a branch meeting and discussed possible ways to raise fund including lemonade stand, baking sale, book sale, etc. After we brainstormed, we decided we could sell meaningful gemstone bracelets and necklaces, not only raising fund, but promoting AYLUS spirit to local communities. Luckily we were able to find a local sponsor, Ny6designs Beads and Supplies, a one-stop beaded jewelry gift shop. Their website is https://ny6designs.com/
Before we can make our own gemstone jewelry, all branch members need training. On April 2nd, 2023, eight members gathered together and held our first jewelry making training. We got to know the name of each gemstone and their meanings, how to make bracelets with medal piece “made with love” and the strategies on how to convince our potential customers to buy the bracelet for our fund raising. We were able to make total 72 bracelets in 2 hours and every member really enjoyed the entire process. We also agreed on the prices of these bracelets and our marketing strategies. The next step is to make a digital flyer and a tri fold for our fund raising activities. We are so excited that we are one step closer to our goals for Libraries with Love project.
