On March 7th, 2023, the AYLUS Rancho Cucamonga Branch teamed up with Hope Through Housing to volunteer at the Toyota Arena during a soccer game. Our mission was to help raise funds for Hope Through Housing by advertising and running the fundraiser games available during the event.
We were stationed around the perimeter of the field and primarily focused on two main games: the ball toss and “A Kick for Hope”. For the ball toss, we walked around the stands and advertised small balls that could be thrown between the quarters of the game to win prizes. We also displayed posters with the prices of the balls and what the proceeds were used for. Another group of our AYLUS members set up and ran “A Kick for Hope”. Participants kicked Velcro soccer balls onto a large target, and the player with the most points won a prize. It was a fun activity for soccer fans and helped raise funds for a good cause.
Although we faced some challenges with keeping track of registrations and scores during peak hours, we managed to run the games successfully for two days. In total, we raised more than $1300 for Hope Through Housing. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community and to contribute to a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing for those in need.
After completing our volunteer work, we were able to enjoy the soccer game. It was a great way to bond as a team and to take pride in what we had accomplished. We were proud to have made a significant contribution to Hope Through Housing and to have helped them achieve their mission.
Overall, the experience was fulfilling and inspiring. We hope to continue volunteering with Hope Through Housing in the future and to encourage others to join us in making a positive difference in the community. Our AYLUS members are always excited to take on new challenges and to use their skills and passion for service to help those in need. We believe that our efforts can make a difference and that together we can make the world a better place.
