In March, realizing some students in our community need more time to develop the problem-solving skills that math requires, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) reached out to the Plainsboro Public Library (9 Van Doren Street, Plainsboro, NJ 08536, 609-275-2897), and worked with Plainsboro Youth Service librarian Liz Palena (lpalenalmxac@gmail.com) to create a free math tutoring program.
How to improve math skills:
- Wrap your head around the concepts.
- Try game-based learning.
- Bring math into daily life.
- Implement daily practice.
- Sketch word problems.
- Set realistic goals.
- Engage with a math tutor.
- Focus on one concept at a time.
The AYLUS Free Math Tutoring for any elementary, middle, or high school math subjects has been scheduled for every Saturday afternoon, 3:30-4:30 pm.
GPA Volunteers: Allan You (3/5, 3 hrs), Tammy Huang (3/5, 3 hrs), William Lyu, David Jin, Claire Hua, William Yuan, Leran Pan, and more.
