On December 3, 2022, AYLUS Pearland Volunteers went to ED White Elementary school to tutor the students from 3rd -5th grade. ED White Elementary is located in a multicultural neighborhood. They have a long-term program that helps students from disadvantaged families with Math or Reading. AYLUS volunteers were assigned to different students and helped them with Math in the cafeteria. We taught them how to find a faster way in solving math problems. The students chose the topic that they wanted to do, and the volunteers provided worksheets accordingly. The students improved their skills by practicing solving problems and reviewing their mistakes. The volunteers played and chatted with the students as well. Snacks were given to the kids as well as the volunteers if they wanted any.
The volunteers that went are (4 hours): Erica Gao, Grace Dai, Shaotan Liu, Jennifer Shen, Abigail Zheng, Grace Wang, Yichen Wang, Alan Yao, Anna Zheng and Jordan Zheng
