On Sunday, November 27th, 2022, members of the Pearland Branch volunteers gathered at the Silverlake park to pack homeless care kits and candy for Mexican children. Meanwhile they also ran a fundraiser for SMILE from 3pm to 5pm.
AYLUS volunteers worked with kids from the community to pack the donated toiletries, socks, band aids, wipes, individually packed snacks, and feminine hygiene items in gallon sized Ziplock bags to distribute to the local homeless community. They packed about 30lbs of donated candy in sandwich Ziplock bags to send to Mexico during the holidays. Meanwhile the volunteers also sold fundraiser items such as Christmas lights, holiday decorations, and gifts to the visitors at the park.
In total, 75 homeless care kits and 150 bags of candy were packed. $105 dollars worth of Christmas gifts were sold and all proceeds will benefit the SMILE program’s laptop drive.
